Popular Post Essandoh 21,870
What a player he was back in the day. Elite goal scorer. Stating the obvious but it’s a great time to be a striker at Rangers with Jermain Defoe and Roy Makaay as your mentors. Absolute fountain of knowledge for everyone in the squad. It’ll be interesting to see if Alfie’s game adapts at all to being more selfish/direct while staying nearer the box area, rather than dropping deeper like he has for some time now. He seems very highly rated as a coach. Bigdave30, orange&blue92, ready1873 and 12 others

Everywhere I've looked he's not been in a job since Gio left Feyenoord so unless I'm missing something I can't see a highly rated coach sitting out the game for that long. Some strike force. Then when Pauleta went it was him with Diego Tristan and Walter Pandiani. Football used to be so much better. Popular Post Essandoh 21,870
Football was better in the early 2000s and I’ll not hear any different Even with money beginning to take over the Premiership down south, the product wasn’t completely watered down like it is now Every team seemed to have that iconic player with individual brilliance that could turn a game on its head. Players are over trained now. Grumble grumble. Drunk and disorderly., slimjim1690, SIRB_72 and 21 others

esquire8 45,224
Interested to see what he brings. Great striker in his day but we don't know too much about his coaching style. Is he the attack coach? Set pieces? Do we even know of Gio splits up his coaching team or everyone just mucks in?

Was the perfect blend of modern , fresh and exciting but still had that old school vibe in the background with many of the teams still playing at their traditional grounds. for me now it’s a bit of an over commercialised snoozefest at times played out in soulless stadiums graeme_4 and Kaydubya11

BlueSuedeSambas 56,399
I still think the one who got away from that era who we should have gone after was Robbie Fowler when he went to Leeds. He would have been incredible for us.
