  1. 1. Should We Target Shankland In January?

Recommended Posts

With Lammers and Dessers continuing to toil and with Shankland impressing against us at the weekend, the subject of him becoming a potential target for us in January has come up and been discussed across a lot of Rangers related social media outlets in the past few days

Do you think we should make a move to sign him, or is he just the latest SPFL flavour of the week?

Better than what we have but as others have said, Hertz would want too much money but maybe we just need to start paying that and getting some home grown players in than overseas pish.

Been said many a time but I think if our squad contained the likes of Ferguson, Doig, Johnston and Shankland and took out them likes of Dessers, Ridvan, Lammers and Sterling it would, arguably, be stronger.  Would they deliver Euro success?  Doubtful but we simply have to start sweeping up domestic trophies now.

At £3m no

The clamour is based on him scoring 21 goals last season but 13 of those were penalties that he would not be taking playing for us. He's a good striker but he's not the answer. We're not going to become the dominant team in Scotland by spending £3m on him. The safe option isn't the best option if it's safely average.

We need to sign strikers with the idea that they'll be EPL quality that we can sell them on. Shankland is not going to be that good. And at the price he would cost he isn't a reliable back-up that we can afford

I'd take him but I don't think he'd come to us to be a backup player (we'd need to target someone better as #1) and Hearts would want too much for him to make it worthwhile.
