UEFA are investigating Rangers over a THIRD charge of sectarian chanting that could lead to a full stadium closure.

The Ibrox club was severely sanctioned by the governing body when 3000 seats were left empty at last night’s dramatic victory over Legia Warsaw after unacceptable singing at last month’s St Joseph’s game.

They have been charged again for a dodgy song book in Poland last week and the disciplinary committee is meeting today to discuss this issue.

Rangers have tried to stave off heavy sanctions by insisting they won’t take tickets for their first away game in the Europa League group phase.

Transfer news LIVE as celtic and Rangers plus Aberdeen, Hearts and Hibs make signings

However, they have been rocked by another investigation that there was sectarian abuse in Denmark on August 8, which took place when Rangers beat Midtjylland 4-2.

This new citing took place before the Legia charge which was revealed on Wednesday.

Managing Director Stewart Robertson made the revelation to a group of supporters ahead of last night’s glory night against Legia.

He had called in a number of fans who are prominent on social media to try to help the club drive out sectarian songs.

This latest investigation could lead to heavy sanctions and is set to hit club hard in the pocket.

Timing is incredibly suspect for an alleged incident 4 weeks ago....cited before the game last night, as if trying to unsettle and comes out in the press immediately after, taking the gloss of last night and the heat away from events in Sweden.   I'm not normally one for conspiracy theories, but I would not be in the slightest surprised if Hollicom have been using FARE as a conduit to target us.

This stinks. The timing in which these charges have been announced just doesn’t make sense. It’s legally and from a disciplinary perspective, completely unsound.

Even if the board withheld details of the first charge, which shockingly seems as though it was the case, supporters have been given no opportunity to rectify their behaviour prior to these latest two charges benign announced in the last couple of days. That’s completely flawed/discriminatory against us and smacks of bullying.

Seriously hope we’re consulting lawyers worth their salt right now.

So we are looking at being retrospectively punished for “chanting” at a game that happened before the Legia game?

We played St Joseph’s, Progress, Mijdtyland and then Legia. Surely each game would be reviewed in the immediate aftermath of when they were played? How can we charges for Legia and then a week later he charged for Mijdtyland? Surely you would be charged for Mijdtyland first?

Regardless on your thoughts on if we should be singing the songs or not it’s clear as day that we are being stitched up here.

That’s exactly it. Surely the clubs argument here is we relayed the 2 charges to the fans and the next available game there wasn’t a hint of sectarian singing, showing that the partial closure and refusal of away tickets has clearly worked.

They’ve been sitting on this one because they knew last night would go smoothly, which it did.

Genuinely not worried.

I think the partial closure last night and us voluntarily giving up the tickets for the next away match will be the end of it.

I actually think Uefa will recognize that our fans turned things around massively last night.

They do want to stamp out the singing, as they see it as doing reputational damage. They will also recognize that kicking clubs out of the competition and closing stadiums will also have a reputational impact.
