We aren't getting near a final this year therefore the Europa League runs the risk of feeling like a bit of a slog in all honesty.

We weren't getting near a final last year either. Either way, the Europa League isn't some sort of endurance test, it's still a major European tournament. Of course not getting Champions League football will be a massive disappointment, but a wee bit of perspective.
