Goldson

Miovski is a very good striker amd is likely destined to play at a higher level than Aberdeen/SPFL. He will cause problems to defenders much better than anyone in Scotland in the future.

Goldson could maybe have done slightly better in that one instance but imho there is no doubt whatsoever that he's still the best CB at the club by some distance. We do need to be heavily succession planning as he can't have too many more seasons left performing at his current level.

The fact that we are only 2 goals behind them on goal difference is down to our good defending. We've lost 5 less goals than them, but scored 7 less, so it's easy to see where the improvement is most needed. Losing just 12 goals in 24 games is excellent, and Goldson has been at the heart of that.

So has jack butland, who has saved our centre halves on more occasions already than mcgregor did last full season

Our centre halves dont have a dominant, fuck football im just going to win every challenge, type centre half, souttar is as close to it but he's not good enough positionally and switches off far too much to be of consistent use

Butland has been brilliant, no doubt. But the defence as a whole, including the defensive midfielders, have done well.

Probably agree with this, but I do think Goldson's last a yard of pace this season.

There are not too many of those sort of players that can do what you describe but also use the ball like a modern CB is expected to do. Even in the EPL it's quite rare to get a good balance of the two qualities. That big ponce Van Dijk is one, Romero, Stones, Saliba, Dias etc probably fall into that category but their value is measured in tens of millions.

When all is said and done, Goldson will easily be in the top ten CBs ever to play for the club. Never in the same category as Grieg or Gough, but a very good player for us all the same.

We've had ten centre backs in the past twenty to thirty years alone that were much better than Goldson.

Will be looked back on as a good defender at times that should've achieved more.

Nah no chance.

Boughi,Cuellar,Weir,Amo,Moore and that's only going back to early 2000's. Butcher, Gough, Roberts, MacKinnon, McPherson before that too.

Goldson isn't even in discussion for the top 10.

For wherever people rank him and for the odd clanger he has, our team generally looks weaker at the back without him in my opinion

I agree with most of them - Boughie, Weir, Amo, Butcher, Gough & Greig.

Had Cuellar played more, for sure.

I just feel we underestimate Goldson's contribution sometimes.

Jim is spot on, people go on about our defence but Butland has stopped many clear chances this season.

Yes that's his job, but solely looking at goals lost is not telling the complete picture regarding our defence this season.

We've conceded 12 Vs an XgA of 14.

Agreed. He's nowhere near as bad as some make out. Still our best CB

Would rather have both him and Tav than not have them.

Both have been terrific signings and servants to the club.

Will need replaced one day, probably at a cost of £££ millions.

Goldson never owns up to his own fuck ups, always looks to lay blame elsewhere. That is my biggest issue

He even did it the other night. Got up and looked across at Souttar/Tav
