His old club paid £2m for him three years ago and they hope to “at least get their money back” eventually so I would see that as the maximum we would pay but only after he’s proven his worth. It was probably a case of improving the squad with free transfers or sell before you buy. Especially in these times and not qualifying for the Champs League. Also our enemies are in the same boat.
