SPFL TV deal

Only needed 8 of the Premiership teams to vote in favour but also needed all 12 teams in the SPFL to vote full stop. Club didn't vote before last nights deadline so deal is in danger. A deal that doesn't start for another 2 years. SPFL looking at another vote but would still require Rangers to vote. Looks like the club have got Doncaster by the short n hairys again.

Pretty sure the Dundee utd American owner was going on about something to do with the TV deal and how pish it is too. Spfl is full of bureaucratic bullshit and they're genuinely not fit for purpose. Our game is an embarrassment up here and we should be aiming for a better deal.

They can get round it by just passing a resolution saying that they don't need all 12 clubs to respond and push it through again, if they really wanted to.

It's embarrassing they are even going for this TV deal option - particularly surprised by the clubs who engaged Deloitte to support their commercial review of Scottish football which practically all but concluded that Doncaster is an absolute waster and the SPFL is not fit for purpose in its current state.

If they want to pass a resolution for not needing 12 clubs to respond, they still need all 12 clubs to vote on that resolution. It's a bit of a loophole they've found themselves in going by this article.

A fucking mess from top to bottom.

The product is shite be lucky to get anyone or anything else. When you see the highlights of some games (outside of us) it’s like watching Conference games down south both for quality and the volume of fans at it. That’s embarrassing but it stems from a hatred of us more than a love for their own clubs.

On the flip side, everything those that run our game touch reeks of incompetence.

Yeah pretty sure the new deal closes the door for clubs to sell their own games online for when they're not on Sky.

Deal seems crazy to me in current economic climate.  Energy costs and inflation going through the roof with only the prospect of it getting worse and they’re  committing themselves to a deal through to 2029.  Why would you do that unless your beIng offered really big money (which patently they are not).

The SPFL didn't even offer the TV deal to other companies.

Now they want to fiddle the voting system to suit themselves.

Zero accountability/democracy.

If the product is good then other companies come to you.

Who are these other companies you expect the SPFL to offer the deal out to?

Who's going to match or even better Sky? All for fucking the haters over but not to our own detriment.

Last time they had competition (BT) BT offered drastically less than Sky - and less per game than their previous contract - while demanding more games.
