International football is always going to be more popular with fans of provincial clubs because it's a much bigger stage than their club will ever play on, and because some cunt from Boreham Wood or wherever can happily support players from Liverpool, Man Utd and Chelsea.

It's not "my country" though - I didn't choose to be born in Scotland any more than I chose my height, eye colour, skin tone etc. I don't have any issue with someone being patriotic, but the expectation that everyone should be is a bit daft. But in terms of it being "my country," there's nothing about the current Scottish national football team, Scottish political climate or Scottish society in general that makes me feel like I owe any sort of support. 

Until a few years ago I was totally indifferent to the Scottish national team.  (Have been since before I was in high school, when a good number of the team were English with one Scottish grandparent, blatantly just playing for Scotland because they weren't good enough to get on the bench for England.) I thought the 'tartan army' were fucking weapons, but that was that. In the last few years it's changed. The political climate in general is part of it, I think.

I didn't even know we were playing as I don't give a fuck and ?I won't give a fuck despite them "your country for fuck sake". "My Country's" officials tried to destroy my club, fuck them all.

England will have a large support from the big clubs in England, Man U and Liverpool aside probably.

That’s how I feel too. Used to take my boy to Scotland games and I remember my family all getting together in the old days to watch them. Not now. Between the football shit and the snp I’m not sure this is my country now.

I will always stand by and support Scotland for mainly nostalgic reasons. First ever game was a Scotland game at a full house wae my auld boy and he had a tear in his eye seeing my amazememt

Anyway, i get why bears don't want to support our national team and who am i to say whether they are right or wrong?
