It is reported that no action was taken because the match referee saw all of the incidents in question. Given that the referee took no action at the time, this tends to suggest that such conduct, which in one instance led to a celtic player, Anthony Ralston, being injured, is acceptable in Scottish football. That cannot be right. On the day, celtic did not play well enough to win the match, something we accept. However, this issue goes beyond the result of the match. celtic is not the only club this season to raise concerns regarding the standard of officiating at matches in Scotland, concerns which have also been shared by many commentators on the game. In order to fully understand what is going on, celtic, our supporters, Scottish clubs and the general Scottish football public need transparency in these matters, and we therefore call on the Scottish FA to allow the referee, John Beaton, to explain these decisions publicly as well as any match officials involved in other similar circumstances. In the meantime, we have requested a meeting with Scottish FA Chief Executive, Ian Maxwell, and the Association's Head of Refereeing. Gerrard was slated by some in the media when he raised the same points earlier in the season. I’ll await the same thing by the “commentators” tomorrow. Burts91 427
I Genuinelly hope Rangers release a statement backing Celtics statement in regards to the officials this season. This, they have for the first time in years realised we are now within striking distance and they are going to use their old 'never defeated always cheated' tactic until the end of the season. Winning this battle will be as important as the players on the park, I hope our board realise that. The Wire 242
As easy at is to laugh at celtic and their fans over the past week and to put it down to their obsession with us, this could influence referees to make decisions in their favour in the future rather than have to deal with the fall out. Prso's headband 35,510
The scary thing is that this will ramp up the decisions that go against us on an almost weekly basis. It should be a genuine concern for the board if they’re allowed to continue this. Morelos will be reffed to a different standard even more than he is now. Popular Post Laudrup1984 25,100
Rangers point out refereeing discrepancies, inadequacies and incompetence = Bad. Paranoid Rangers. Anyone else = Good. The hypocrisy is incredible. The lack of impartial or objective views from so called neutral observers is startling. But not surprising.
