The split was introduced to avoid meaningless games at the end of the season but they've been so far ahead that they've coasted the last few years, 2nd, 3rd or 4th means fuck all and relegation has been pretty nailed on to 1/2 teams. How a country this size has 40 odd senior teams in the league is a joke too. Those progressing out the bottom tiers are the newer teams like Elgin, Peterhead, Ross Cty and ICT; as opposed to shite that has offered Scottish football fuck all return other than a high profile cup game against one of the big guns.
