The club seem to be doing some really clever transfers when it comes to building a squad. The fact that our midfield 5/6 has cost us a total of £400k says it all. Defoe's league minutes this season amount to 4 full games played and he's on somewhere between 20 and 30k a week. Even if we reduced that significantly with a new contract he's going to play less minutes next year not more. Our wage bill needs to come down, we have to be ruthless. If it's saving 20k to get a young player in with potential then that is better for us.
