Sometimes feels like everyone is just itching for an argument on here 😂

we absolutely battered Hearts defence yesterday with or without a central striker. Halkett and Souttar stood against that battering admirably. Even their wee right back battled valiantly against a total hammering from Kent and Bassey. He would have slept well last night and he will be sore this morning.
Souttar played very well yesterday. He was the Hearts man of the match and some of them think he was the best player on the pitch.

While I am here, five stars is not saying Souttar is better than Goldson. What he said is that Souttar is a better distributor of the ball than Goldson. That should be debated on its merits because Goldson has been pretty good with long balls over the top and I haven’t seen enough of Souttar to judge. But let’s not argue the wrong point. 😂

Thanks for a good descriptive answer, I have only just managed to see the goals. Recent games, without our recognised strikers, we have not played to compete with the opposition central defence and did not know if that was the case yesterday.

Looking forward to him getting started. Just one point though - I really hope he can deliver the volume of games that Goldson and Tav do. We have had our fair share of injury prone players over the last 4 years.

Not a snowballs hope in hell. We will hopefully get more out of him than Hearts due to our sport science and fitness teams being better - but he will still always be at the risk of breaking down.

Looking at his career thus far, he's only ever managed to play 35+ games in a single season once!

Over the last 2 seasons Goldson has played 116 games. Over the last 5 seasons: Souttar has played 118 games.

In the five years before joining us, Goldson had played 139 games (Mainly for Shrewsbury 90/139)

And? Soutar's limited app's are solely down to injuries that have consistently plagued him throughout his career thus far.

Goldson had a spell out in 2017 due to his potentially life threatening heart surgery but beyond that and growing pains as a youth, you'll be hard pressed to find any extended periods of injury. His limited app's prior to us was mostly down to not being selected or viewed as good enough... nothing to do with him being injury prone.

Slightly different circumstances...

It's amazing that yesterday everyone was screaming for gio to bring on a striker because we were missing loads of chances, aribo especially

Yet today apparently souttar coasted the game yesterday essentially 🤣🤣

Roofe or morelos played yesterday we take about 4 or 5 off hearts before ET, gordon and poor misses saved hearts, not their defence

Souttar will not be good enough to start for us, especially in europe

Haven't watched Hearts a lot, so would be interested to hear if that was his normal form, or a one off performance. However, he had a great game it has to be said. I think he seems to think quicker than Goldson does. Reacted quickly to snuff out situations before they arose. If he can stay fit, and can handle the pressure the jersey brings, he'll be a great signing!

David Weir had torrid times in Scotland before us. Remember Souttar is playing in front of guys who can't retain the ball and invite pressure on. It's virtually impossible not to face countless attacks and chances when that's the case.

With us we will be on top of the game 90 percent of the time.

Let's see him play in our team before making sweeping statements like this. Was the exact same with Ryan Jack too

Bang on. The midfield offered no protection at all.

Around a year before joining us. Remember when folk were worried Goldson's heart op could cause problems for him playing for us consistently?

Again, it's not even close to the same thing.

Goldson had a potentially life threatening health condition that was only discovered after a routine health check in 2017. It wasn't a re-occurring injury that had plagued his career prior to being discovered. By Goldson's own admission he was told by several Doctors that his professional career could be over. It was 50/50... Based on that alone our fans were entirely correct to be concerned given the club was shelling out over £3m for him - it was a massive gamble, one that has fortunately paid off for both parties.

Souttar on the other hand has had legs made of chocolate for his whole career. At nearly 26 years of age it's probably not going to improve now.

Souttar (if he's signed), Roofe and other sick notes will likely not 'benefit from our superior medical teams' any time soon. Our well respected club doctor Mark Waller resigned yesterday to go join Leicester City

Thanks for ruining a good topic. 😄

Would these be the same sweeping statements like how he was immense yesterday against no strikers?

Hes a domestic signing, with scotland caps can improove on the european stage, still only 25, so can become a modern Davie Weir for us imo
