Any new manager that comes in are no doubt worried if they stand on both Tav, Goldsons toes it may prove to be a bad move because they are so influential within the squad so I understand to a certain point of why.

If a manager starts off on the wrong foot it could cost him his job so he would want the captain of the club on board first of all. Best thing Davis can do is strip Tav now and give it to Butland. It would be a massive chess move and something the fans want to see.

I love Tav and hate the stick he gets but him and Goldson need to move on just the same way Morelos and Kent needed to move on.

yeh this is the problem. Folk act like we haven’t signed any players. We’ve signed 40 since Wilson first arrived.

It just happens that Goldson is still the best CB at the club and Tav is probably still one of our best players.

That’s not saying their level hasn’t dropped. Tav is clearly getting on.

As and when we sign better players we can and must move on the worst players. But it should be in that order unless you’re recouping significant fees for them.

And it should be judged on ability not time spent with the club.

That’s incremental improvement. Otherwise you just end up losing Kent for free and replacing him with Lammers and wasting millions.

Guys like Jack, Wright etc who clearly aren’t capable of performing to the required level are the guys you move on first.

Not Goldson. That’s just self sabotage. Goldson is easily capable of playing to the level we need.

Not only because whatever good will he has among the support is cooked, but also because he will be 31 years old and will only have two years left of his deal come the Summer. We won’t get a big fee for him, but we need to sell him then because when he starts getting to a place where he has 18 months left on his deal whatever value he has starts to diminish.

Both Tav and Goldson should not be certain starters going past next season, they've done a job for us over the years and it'll be hard to replace them when the time comes. I think past failure's weigh heavy on them and it shows at times.

No-one wanted him when he was available on a free, we're not going to get a penny for him when he's a few years older, has had a serious injury and looks two yards slower when he was never the quickest on the first place. Another wage thief we're stuck with until his stupidly lucrative contract finally runs out.
