What you mean is you hope there isn't?

A lot of people don't seem to understand that release clauses aren't good for a club. Selling club has nothing to gain from an amount that they have to accept.

Not necessarily.

If for talking sake the release clause is 25m then that’s a figure that the club, player and agent are comfortable is obtainable.

It means any club bidding we can tell match the clause or fuck off. Morelos nor his agent can’t kick up a fuss over rejected bids as they’ve agreed to the release clause.

Stops the time wasters with low bids and if clause isn’t met we get another year out of him. Win/Win

Or we can not have the clause in there and say we are looking for at least 25 million and reject any bids below 25 million.

This way we can potentially receive higher than 25 million if many teams become interested and aren't limiting what we can receive, which is what release clauses do.

The club doesn't want a release clause in there and that's a fact.

If he stays he stays, if he doesn't then we're making sure both us and him get the most from the next club. Say he's on £30k a week now, that means he can ask the next club for at least that. Whereas the other year when he was on less the next club wouldn't necessarily have to offer as much.

Constant signings of new contracts is a good thing as it shows the other young players, if you're good enough and get better we are happy to pay you more. Rather than being stuck on a 4 year deal with no sign of an improved deal if they get better/do well for the club.

Isn’t something that you could possibly know.

Given the sums we are talking, its worth pointing out that at £25M, the guy is our most marketable asset EVER, and is actually worth more then the club raised  at the Charles Green share issue.

They say nobody is bigger than the club ....

and he isn't

He got a new deal in March last year to 2021, but then he signed a new deal in September to 2022. Now this to 2023.

Including his original sign on contract that’s four across two seasons. I’ve never heard of that before.

👍

True mate ... but there again we've never had a player whose £-value was potentially so high ..... so probably the most logical and sound business practice for this move.

Well done all involved in this move I say ..... let's hope this welcome  improved approach in the transfer market is how we carry on now.

whatever else, it keeps his name in the spotlight thats for sure.

👍

.... and for all the right reasons as far as we are all concerned mate ..... don't know ... or care ... how the petulant biased media up here will portray this though .... :p:

I wonder what hes on must be highest paid at club now 30-35k per week

Nice we 35million this summer or fuck off

I can't see it being as much as that, the reality will be he most likely signed on originally for 8-10k...his new deals are probably going up 3-5k , which I would imagine would take him up to roughly 20-25k a week, if we are paying him 30-35k a week then we are playing with fire again in regards to our outgoings

Will it compared to the one signed in September once you offset the wages and various other fees?

Do you know what the difference between what he was getting paid in September and what he'll earn from the new contract?
