You get £13.5m for qualifying and we’ve made about £10m in ticket sales including psv so you’re already over the halfway of £40m.

Obviously it looks like we won’t get a point but it’s £2.5m a win and £800k a draw plus tv money and country coefficient.

There is potential there to make upwards of £30m at least for just making the group stages. I know there’s outgoings etc but it seems an interview full of excuses cos yet again the money isn’t being handled properly.

Malmo made €30m from champions league last season. That was with only 1 draw and 5 defeats in thr group stage. Robertson is over stating the ridiculous £40m as an excuse.

He’s started really well but the fact that they’re creaming themselves silly about being able to attract a 28 year old who’s played 4 games at a higher level than the Championship is beyond strange

The more it goes on the more you can see the frustration from Gerrard. He wasn't without his faults but he delivered an unbeaten league season and the justification for not spending was losing to Malmö. If the board had given Gerrard the money they have Gio we could have potentially made the CL last year and retained the title (hypothetical scenario of course).

The board are really digging themselves into a hole and they don't have the 'look a squirrel' of the title or the Europa League final, no matter how many times they want to use it.
