Not set up to attack the fullbacks

played a defensive formation

at home, Ibrox ffs

that lot are shite and were there for the taking. That’s on Gerrard btw.

They are shite mate and we will never get a better chance to prove it.

But as a team we bottled it.

  • We changed a winning formation in the biggest game of our season so far to play an unfamiliar formation.
  • Not having a genuine winger meant we didn't have width or an outball when they chose to pressure us high up the pitch. This is probably the big one.
  • We set up with five midfielders seemingly to try and nullify Christie and Forrest, with Kamara and Flanagan doubling up on the latter and the former chased down by the other three. Instead of being confident, we chose to be fearful of them. You could literally see them suss this out at about the 20-25 minute mark and begin to grow more confident themselves. Wrong mentality.
  • Booting the ball up to a 5'7 Defoe and hoping for second-balls off him when their defender is 6'5. Alternatively, dropping Morelos for Defoe and then playing in a way that Defoe is completely ill-suited for.
  • Putting Ojo on when he was clearly fucked from Thursday and apparently has bruising instead of Jones.
  • Shoehorning Aribo in when he is clearly exhausted and has been off it the past few games.

Any more?

Great post and surely how most bears see it

Nail on the head just missed that Arfield has been an empty jersey for weeks and Goldson has been needing a kick up the arse for that dwelling on the ball shite for months

This is the worrying part. To win the title we need to show some real bottle which I dont think the manager nor the team has.  Long season ahead now of this is what Gerrard plans

Arfield hasn,t kicked his arse since we came back, Tavenier looks fucked and plays like a guy at the end of 120 mins on glue, Goldson thinks he,s Maldini, how many times does he do that with all the time in the world. Ojo will never be a player for us, heart of a mouse. I could go on but today from the minute they launched that nothing ball into the corner you could see they were up for it.

Gerrard expected them to sit back  but they were at our throats from the off. Pig sick and knew they wouldn,t be as bad as the last 2 games at Ibrox but we made it easy for them.

Gerrard bottled fuck all.  He got it badly wrong today granted and hopefully that's the last time we fail to go for the jugular against these unwashed cunts from the first whistle.

But he's got bottle in spades and will rise to the challenge against Lemon any day.

Have to disagree, he set out to stop them winning as opposed to us winning, he shat the bed. 100%, hopefully he learns from this.

Morelos and Jones should have started and if he couldn’t trust Morelos today then we need to sell him.

He also fkd up the sub bringing Ojo on instead of Jones (was this another Worral situation, I fkn hope not)

Should have tried a short corner to change the angle of the ball.

The only good thing is that no cunt wins the league four games in but fkn awful.

Maybe they’ll think they have enough to win the league but we still need a left back and another striker, and also Kent but I think this is a wish list on my part

The team selection today was baffling. Morelos is our best player by a country mile and he's on the bench?? Arfield is clearly struggling with form so should have been rested (ideally on thurs ahead of this game). As others have mentioned, we had no out ball today, Goldson hestitated when he came out with the ball for their first goal as there was no options in front of him to pass to. At least Jones (or Ojo) make defenders think and put them on the back foot, with essentially 5 centre midfielders today it was too predictable with no creativity. I can't quite get over that team selection- Gerrard has to take some responsibility- the buck stops with him!!
