And the referee.

No issue with the ref acting upon clear observations reported by the linesman. Actually I'd like more of that.

The fact the decision was so appalling, and Clancys decision making the rest of the game, are different conversations altogether.

Opening game of the season, a high profile game between two teams who don’t like each other, loud atmosphere, in front of a large watching audience  and a couple of physical players have a bit of tit-for-tat in the opening stages. What is it they say: “play the game, not the occasion” Surely that applies to referees too?

I mean i’m no referee but even a blind man could see that the sensible thing to do would be to pull both players aside and have a word with them.

It wasn't even the referee it was the wee virgin on the side lines.

Far too sensible.

The bare minimum that should happen is demotion to the lower league for the ref and linesman for a spell, won’t happen but he’s more likely to be awarded an OF game as a reward

At the very least the two games Morelos would have missed. The cunts just shouldn't get paid for major fuck ups.

However mission was accomplished. A game Rangers without a shadow of a doubt would have won comfortably, and in which they were clearly the far better side before the red card, was materially altered and in consequence two points dropped already. Very similarly to the Hibs game. We have also lost Jack for a huge European match due to an assault which did not even merit a card which was committed for the sole purpose of removing the best player on the pitch, watched the ref completely ignore the rules of the game which would have seen parity in numbers restored and Arfield being carded for using his shirt to assault an Aberdeen players hands.. but hey...as Dodds Heevins etc all keep saying..there is no conspiracy and we are not being treated differently to any other club. I agree with Gerrard we can expect more of this particularly if it looks like we will mount a challenge to Liewells Savco. And any retrospective punishment for the two blatant barges by any chance? Don't be silly.

cheating cunts

ive been fucking fuming since Sunday

as an aside what say all those ex footballers (some ex Rangers) who seemed to think it wasn't a fucking scandal

Even SG was giving it the “he gave him a decision to make” line. We were cheated, plain and simple.

This flashing of red cards will now have to stop.  Good to have it rescinded but a fucking almighty slap in the face to have it done after it's undoubtedly cost us 2 points (again).  I think with the gravitas and publicity SG now brings to the game here, refs will be getting seriously stern warnings of jumping into decisions like Sunday and thus making the game look even more foolish, and potentially corrupt, than it already is...  SG played a blinder with his comments after the Dons game.

The Scottish football authorises will claim that this shows their system working properly because there's been a review and a rescinded card. In fact, the pattern of reversed decisions should tell them that their officials are useless incompetents and the system that produces them is utterly dysfunctional.

We were still the better side after the red too mate but the fact of the matter is that we still never created enough to put Aberdeen to the sword ... sure the red didn't help but we were still the better team and bossed them and should have won. We need to look at ourselves too along with the diabolical referring standards.

The ref carries ultimate responsibility. He is meant to brief his colleagues before the game about how and when to make contact with him about key decisions. Clancy did not even bother to take the time to go over and have a word with the official and clearly could not wait to get the red card out.

He was clearly given concise and specific information over the earpiece. I too think Clancy should have spoken with the linesman but im not sure what having him clarify what he saw would have done if his judgement was that he'd clearly seen a red card offence.

The observation was wrong, Clancy could have consulted, but he was right to go on an officials observations in his decision making. Unless you're saying Clancy should have refused to accept what he was told was a missed red card offence....
