Everyone has been losing their shit while we have calmly and serenely established a six point lead at the halfway point, while retaining our dignity and class. Yeah, I’m along the same lines. As much as it would’ve been satisfying initially, if the board had come out and said the bheasts are just trying to get this postponed for their own devious reasons we would’ve looked petty. Everyone knows why they wanted the postponement brought forward so I don’t think it would’ve done anything to our cause to just fire shots across. I imagine that at the levels the Board operate at they will have voiced their displeasure and cynicism. I don’t think it would’ve looked good to start mouthing off to us plebs and start mud slinging. Barely anything has made any sense over the past few years. They haven't even taking into consideration what happens if more games get called off. We haven't even seen the worst of winter weather yet and how many times does that usually get games called off. We're getting a fixture pile up and we're going to watch this lot scramble like headless chickens trying to fix it. All to give one club an advantage yet again. The only thing that has made sense in the decision making. Negri's lovechild, Bears r us, Laudrup1984 and 1 other
Popular Post Bad Robot 21,513
From FB: TOTAL HYPOCRISY. We were told two reasons/excuses by the clubs who wanted to bring forward the winter break. One fable was “games need fans” the other was “we get bigger crowds over festive periods”. Neither of these concerns were rectified by yesterday’s strange SPFL decision. We will see games being played on Sunday without fans and no SPFL clubs will benefit from festive full houses so what was the point? Who benefits from sliding fixtures that may still be played in empty stadiums? There was no vote by clubs. This is also a fallacy. The SPFL board have total decision making powers on fixtures. They asked the member clubs for feedback not a vote. Why they feel they had to do this is a dereliction of responsibility and why there was three options is even more confusing. We ended up with a highbred decision that contradicted the essence of the concerns. If clubs didn’t want to play in empty stadiums then why are we able to do that on Sunday this week and unable to do so the following week. It’s a farce. Celtic didn’t want to play this seasons first old firm game in an empty stadium and surprisingly the “random computer” selected the latest date possible and they didn’t fancy playing the New Years game without fans and guess what happens. If the game was traditionally played on Boxing Day you can bet your bottom dollar wed have had no games on Sunday. I note Doncaster is in the media today attempting to pass responsibility on to the Scottish Government for not changing their mind yet he’s completely changed his after being against sliding the shut down. He previously stated it was impossible as it would give us fixture headaches after the break. There seems no point in having a SPFL board as they don’t make decisions. They’d be better scrapping it and polling clubs on decisions because yet again they’ve failed their sole purpose. Their job was to do everything possible to get this season finished after a full year of matches. By flipping their decision yesterday they’ve made that less likely and it’s hardly unlikely that when football does return we will see full stadia which makes the decision even more ridiculous. Aberdeen etc who voiced concerns about lost festive income still don’t get any Santa bonuses. Celtic who claimed they just wanted fans in grounds didn’t get what they wanted but they did get the New Years fixtures postponed. Only the most ignorant of fans can’t see that was their real reason for their agenda. Funny that isn’t it? Unfortunately in 2008 and 2020 the football authorities caved in to Celtic and refused to extend/postpone the end of season date. This would normally set a precedence but let’s not convince ourselves that wouldn’t happen this season if we see a fixture pile up and a certain club are within touching distance of a title and direct entry in to the champions league.
