The squad needs a rebuild but that doesn’t necessarily mean Gio is the right person to oversee and trust with it either.

The warning signs about his capability as a manager are already there, just like they were with Caixinha before we entrusted him with millions of pounds to oversee a rebuild we had to dismantle a year later, and I fully expect they will be exposed even further before the end of May.

If celtic win the league by 10+ points and seal a treble (which is the outcome I expect) then neither him, or the majority of these players, can be here next season.

How can there be warning signs about his capability when he's literally not had his own team, instead he's dealing with players who have shown under the manager that actually recruited them, that they are a bunch of weak mentality spineless bastards,

This squad has won one trophy in 4 years (arguably gifted to them by the tarrier implosion) and has shown time and again that they have no big game mentality needed to win when its needed, gio cannot change that in 5 months if gerrard couldnt change it in 3 years

If the league form is warning signs of his capabaility, then surely the euro results are a positive indication of what he could achieve if he had his own squad

Then he should have sold a couple to bring in fresh legs.

Wilson should have forced him to. Now we've got a stale squad and rapidly depreciating assets. If we capitulate to the demands of a young manager and panic-buy players like Ramsey, what's the point of having a DoF?

So much of this season can be traced directly back to Malmö. If we'd have won that tie it's pretty certain funds for improvement would have been available. We've being paying for that fuck up ever since.

Kamara is the one who should have been sold last Summer. He had the season of his life for us and then played well at the Euros. His stock was never going to be higher than it was last July.

So you want to sack him now?

What manager would you have in?

He won’t be sacked now and there’s no point putting a caretaker in as we saw with the Murty fiascos but we should change at the end of the season

Can we stop pretending some of the players in the B team are the silver bullet in the short-term too. Couldn't win the fucking Lowland League so they're hardly going to be the difference in winning the Premiership.

Premiership is finished.

I said on here back in the summer we needed to move a couple on to bring in funds if there was none available, which Wilson said would be the case the Christmas before.

Both him and Gerrard have absolutely fucked us keeping the same, stale squad.

He was brought in as a replacement to Gerrard.

The model we use is for a manager to come in and run with the existing squad, exactly so we dont have to rebuild the entire squad every time a new manager comes in. We have stated this.

He knew there was not going to be a massive rebuild where he gets his own team. He took the job knowing that he was saying he could do it with the team he was inheriting.

Sure, this means that the failure is also with the board/DOF, but mostly with GVB who has not lived up to his end of it.

I am stupid posting in this thread. Full of pessamists. That is well before today's result.

Lesson learned, don't debate with people who are blinkered to the overall picture.

Hope the next manager is better guys.

Bye.

What the overall picture BTW?

Everything going great staring down at another treble for them watching them rake in 30m that we earned?

Where is this silver lining...

The players have an absolute losers mentality, and 55 was a fluke season as we can now seen.

Hard to tell how much is this squad of jabronis and how much is Gio - but I’d be happy to be clear of both in the summer.

55 wasn't a fluke. You don't fluke an unbeaten league season. It was a fantastic foundation to build on - with CL entry next season as a prize to aim for - but our executive leadership lacked the courage to make difficult decisions and banked on coasting on last season's momentum. At great effort, we changed the direction of travel that's been building for 9+ years, and in ~9 months we've chucked it away.

At least 90 per ent of us wanted Gio as manager.

Were we wrong?

Give the guy a chance.

Mate.

We're football fans, not football experts.

We backed him because it seemed like a round peg for a round hole - Ex Ranger player ;decent pedigree; available and keen for the job.

It clearly isn't working and by lord I don't want to trust him with a full scale rebuild which is clearly required.

It is. it still doesn't mean players who couldn't come close to challenging for the Lowland League title are the answer to our problems in the short-term. It's fucking madness from folk who have invariably seen very little of the players beyond a handful of clips on social media and brief appearances for the first-team in games we're cruising.
