The quest for a Plan B.

Finally, we have it, right?

Plan A was getting us nowhere fast by the end of the first half. Finally, we seem to have a manager that actually has a plan B which can change things in our favour. We were immense that second half.

Totally agree - said the same in the game thread, it's great to have a manager who isn't afraid to switch formation and personnel when plan A isn't working. Gio's taken some stick recently here (myself included), he deserves a lot of plaudits tonight though.

If we hadn’t changed we would now be sitting here rueing our chance. Plan c was a masterstroke by Gio, one I doubt Gerrard would have made.

It’s great to see how flexible Gio is tactically. I really hope he can drive us on to the title now. This team deserves to be CL players next season, they’ve done it all themselves

When we went to a back 5, I thought it would be a very long 45 minutes but it worked to perfection. They didn't score in the second half and no one was saying that at Half-time.

You know what else I loved about tonight. After the final whistle, all the staff/squad players.....even the likes of Ofobrh were pitch side to get sample the atmosphere. What an incredible night!

Would be interesting to see how that formation could work in the league. 

Playing 5 at the back isn't needed in the league but if it allows us to get the best out of Tav and Bassey/Barisic then I'm all for it.

The frustration at no plan B tended to be when we struggled to break teams down (arguably we done that v dundee utd on Sunday but just lacked the finishing touch). Slightly different here, but speaks for GVBs ability to change it up effectively.

Aye you can't really complain too much with a calm head after Sundays result, disappointing obviously but he made positive changes which is more than what can be said under previous managers. We would've lost that game under SG

You only need to compare to our first trip there. We looked lost and that we wouldnt score if we played for another 90. Sunday was one of those games you get a few of a season - at a bastard of a timing.
