Popular Post RM Monitor And Standards Officer 112,857
STEVEN GERRARD has hailed the backing of Dave King and the Ibrox board for helping his bid to re-establish Rangers as a force. The Gers gaffer has made 11 new signings this summer — and shipped 21 players out the door. The key for me was to bring everyone together and change the mentality around the club. “The first-team players are always the priority and everyone has to do everything they can to support that to ensure that they have got no excuses when they go on the park. “We can’t have anyone around the place who is negative or not doing their job properly. We can’t have it. Everyone needs to pull in the same direction. “It just needed a bit of connection and a few tweaks in certain areas, especially around the first team. “Build confidence and belief, add some winners and leaders to the good players that were already here. “Just to find that connection for everyone to pull in the direction for the first team, that’s all I felt it needed.” Rodgers issued the Hoops hierarchy with a stunning ultimatum on Thursday. But across the city harmony has broken out at Ibrox, with chairman King and his board working tirelessly to give Gerrard a platform on which to build. King was at Ibrox on Thursday to see Rangers move within touching distance of a Europa League play-off place and Gerrard revealed further talks are planned. He said: “We had a quick chat last night at the game and he’s been at the training ground today. We have had two brief conversations but, yes, I will be speaking to him at length in the coming days. “He’s been a great support to me, as have the board. Changing a lot of personnel in the squad, they have been very supportive. We’ve made changes at the training ground and we are about to make some changes at Ibrox. “They’re buying into what we’re trying to do and supporting us in every department.” terry739, The New Era, LochendBilly and 14 others
hammer93 15,464
To be fair the improvement in the team is looking promising and it's been done on the cheap....a lot of figures were getting branded about that we would need to spend 20/30 million....I would like to see the 4million that we recouped the other day spent on a striker at the very least. Popular Post pcbear 10,932
Harmony has broken out at Ibrox -- How good does that sound and when was the last time that could have been printed? Gerrard was a gamble there is no doubt about that as were the previous 4 inc Murty, I know it is early days but he has set the place alight and for the first time in ages it feels like we are heading the right direction. I know what your saying bud and I was the same early in the MW era....it was great seeing us playing with a swagger and scoring goals for fun...there was always that wee nagging doubt about how we failed to keep a clean sheet...this ultimately proved the downfall when we stepped up in class..however this time round has a different feeling....although we aren't rattling goals in I'm super confident we won't concede a lot of goals...2 goals a game should see us win the majority of games this season....a out and out striker and a creative midfielder would IMHO see us blow teams away? jackunion

Goals from open play is a slight concern but the defence is getting there, dare I say it but McGregor imo has been our best signing. Aye your probably right because there's too many on Bears Den with their heads up their own erses that don't have a good word to say about Dave King and are not prepared to give him credit for anything - maybe that will change after Steven Gerrards statement - but I doubt it. Popular Post TheMotor 2,208
I only care about the success of the team and the long-term future of the club. If Dave King supports the first without risking the second, I'll become a Kingaling too. The best thing Dave can do right now is give Gerrard what he wants, get the strips on the shelves and haud his wheesht. Win, win, win. SeparateEntityMyArse 55,346
Can only be good that a manager is backed by his chairman and board. Don't think any of us perceived it to be anything other than that. WATP-FOREVER

saintbob1969 1,560
Much as we are all getting excited and impressed with Gerrard I'll hold fire with the King appreciation. He was the man in charge when we had to suffer the Pedro experiment and various other embarrassments. Looking good so far but any run of bad injuries and we are in trouble and need an experienced lethal striker. HG5 and bornabear
DW1872 1,225
Credit where it's due. We've got a superstar name as manager who seems to be making positive changes. There's been a big turnaround in the playing squad and everybody seems to be pulling in the same direction. Can only be taken as a good thing. Like a previous comment I'm happy that the manager is happy. HG5
