Rangers Provide Scotland Support With More Fans Than celtic, Aberdeen and Hearts

It is an argument which arises every time the Scotland are set to play.

Which clubs provide the most number of fans and, conversely, which club's fans take little interest in the national team?

It is often felt, in a sweeping generalisation, that the celtic and Rangers fans are not overly bothered with Scotland, preferring to concentrate on supporting the two behemoths of Scottish football.

The Tartan Army, it is believed, is made up of fans from lower league clubs, while Aberdeen is thought of as a stronghold for the supporters of the national team.

Yet, data revealed by the digital manager of the SFA shows that Rangers have the biggest percentage of fans among Scotland Supporter Club members.

They are followed by four of the other 'big five' - if you will. Aberdeen, celtic, Hearts and Hibs, in that order.

Michael Bochel tweeted: "Probably a good opportunity to dispel some myths about the Scotland support. Based on the last time I looked (Dec 2018) the teams supported by Supporter Club members in order of % were:

Rangers

Aberdeen

celtic

Hearts

Hibs

Kilmarnock

Dundee United

St Mirren

I used to be an armchair scotland fan, and would argue on here how it’s everyones right to support the national team and how it doesn’t represent the SFA. Can’t make that arguement any more. Hate the cunts from top to bottom.

It’s not false.

They haven’t claimed that Rangers fans are bigger than all the others combined. Otherwise the headline would say “combined”.

If a significant minority of Bears can support the SNP then hardly surprising some support the Scottish national side in spite of the SFA being rank rotten from top to bottom.

Personally, over time, I'd like to see us reclaim both our country and the national team from the republican rheptiles.

There are 42 Scottish League clubs. Plus countless Junior and Non-League teams.

Whilst we are the biggest team in the country by support, of course we are still likely to be a minority at Hampden - large or otherwise.

Disagree with this. I support Scotland and a very high % of my Rangers supporting mates support Scotland. Would say it's far higher than 50% for Scottish Rangers fans. The Louder minority always seems more vast though. Saying that, the percentage has definitely lowered from 2008-now.
