I think that's fair enough. The club know what's going to happen but by releasing this statement they've covered their own backs.

exactly :) people will be out partying it's inevitable but at least with this the club can say they did all they reasonably could.

That would be applying some common sense just two days before the restrictions go down a level, but the people who could have made that happen won't even discuss anything with our Club because thry hate us so it cannot happen. Shitebags.

The mad thing is mate the longer the fans don’t get a glimpse of the trophy the longer we’ll stay , if there was a podium set up outside the blue room window and each player raised the trophy the minute they went back inside the crowd outside ibrox would disperse

Club Statement

This Saturday will be a historic day in the illustrious history of our 150-year-old institution. It’s been a long journey over the past 10 years and we would not have achieved ‘55’ without the loyalty and support of you, our fanbase. You have followed us through the darkest of times, and have stood firm, in anticipation of the club lifting the league trophy for a world record 55th time.

It’s a day to enjoy and to celebrate the achievements of our club, and the title win by Steven Gerrard and his team. However, we are cognisant that the battle against Covid-19 is far from over and that the virus is still live. It hasn’t gone away.

Please celebrate this historic day for our club in a safe and sensible manner, respecting public safety- adhering to the current government guidelines and restrictions which are still in place.

In particular, please be mindful of the government guidelines regarding gathering in large numbers. If possible, please celebrate within your own community.

Once again, we thank you for your unrivalled support, and look forward to welcoming you back to our stadium to create the famous Ibrox atmosphere, once restrictions permit.

That's me fucked - was going to go to Ibrox

Good idea but plenty will be going to George Square afterwards, Glasgow will be Blue.

Sick saying it mate thousands of fans on Edmiston drive , thousands of shoppers on Buchanan street not one iota of difference

Against my better judgment I’m currently on a First Bus into town.

Cyprus have just had a similar situation with Omonia Fc winning their First Division in 11 years. All covid protocols broken. Expected 4000 to turn up at the training ground but was over 20000. President of the country took a practical view.

President Anastasiades was also asked to comment last night’s celebrations of FC Omonia which clinched the First Division championship. Fans flooded the club’s training grounds at Yeri without upholding personal protective measures or social distance.

“I am sure that no one, not even the club’s management would have wanted to see its fans derail (from the measures). At the same time, however, we must consider the feelings of fans who are celebrating winning the championship after 11 years”, he said.

“It was wrong to violate the measures”, said President Anastasiades and wondered if it would be the right thing for the Police to intervene and clashes to break out, something that again wouldn’t have been ideal.

Genuine question here did the gathering after we won the league ever actually lead to the spike that people were saying it would?

No

Stuurgeon said she thought people were lying about contracting the virus though

there was a small spike but almost negligible. whatever caused that spike was a result of whatever happened at the end of feburary/very early march because cases started to rise around week ending 7th March. we're told it can take up to 14 days for a positive case to appear after infection. by 21st March (~2 weeks after george square) cases start to go back down in line with the previous trend for the 3rd wave peak in january.
