It’s madness that we are so reliant on a player with his injury record. He needs replaced

It we win the league again without him playing most games then that will tell us we’re not reliant on him.
We can’t bank on him though but we seem to be sticking with him on the hope he fully recovers and remains injury free which is highly unlikely with his injuries but hopefully the medical staff know better.

True but the option of having him available would be a big bonus.
Must admit though I’d be surprised if he’s back playing before Christmas.

A fit Helander, Jack and Kent instantly improves the squad quite a bit - we obviously can’t spend and need these options back - especially given the form of the current players available

I think the point about him not being ever present is fair but his importance for me is in matches where we are struggling or people are putting the boot in. He has a mentality / drive and ability to protect the back four that I think our other midfielders don’t always give. Against Motherwell recently he would have been useful I think.

I'm sure Gerrard said the Specialists had identified what was causing the recurrence, the inference being that once he's back we should expect him to stay back.

Just need to wait and see what happens when he comes back. I'd love if Jack could come back and go on a run of games with the issues finally behind him.

We need to be looking at alternatives if he breaks down again.

Gerrard said "Ryan Jack is due back on the training pitch any day now and hopefully get him back with the group in a couple of weeks." September 24.

Can't wait to see him on the pitch again, one of my favorite player.

“Ryan Jack is due to be injured again in 4 weeks” Steven Gerrard confirmed.

It's quite simple. The Ryan Jack role is important to how we play. The other sitting midfielders don't do what he does. So the system doesn't work as well.

Until we get a replacement we need him back.

I agree. Who is our "cover" for Jack, is it Lundstram?

I’m pretty sure SG & co saw Lundstram as a fit for Jack’s position. Lundstram has taken a few games but there are signs he starting to settle and adapt to the fact that he’s in a team now that generally see more of the ball than his previous teams.

If, Lundstram continues to improve, maybe Jack will be cover for him?

I think you might be right but Lundstram has a huge mountain to climb to prove he's anywhere near as effective as a fit Ryan Jack.

👍🏻
A fit Ryan Jack is definitely the answer, but will he ever be 100% the player he should be or will both him & Lundstram be rotated, sparing Jack a gruelling full season? Could they play together?

Time will tell if Lundstram ascends to the required level but I’ve got a feeling that he will.

Ryan Jack is not our issue.

Far from it.

We won more games without him playing last season than with him playing.

We went on our best run last season AFTER he was crocked.

I'm not undermining Jack but his lack of presence is not our current issue.

The below post says that this is wrong

Jack started 16 games in the league last season. In those 16 games we had 15 clean sheets and just 1 goal conceded. He's massively important and IMO we're a better unit when he is on the park.
