Why the fuck did Ramsey not start?

Fresh young legs of Lowry was the sub to make , Ramsey shouldnt even have been there.

Ramsey's contributed plenty when he's been able to play or picked.

I get it hasn't turned out the way we'd all have hoped and it's made worse by the fact he missed his pen, but when on the park his quality is there to see.

I'm as excited as anyone about Lowry but for every very good thing he does, he twice also loses the ball cheaply or tries something that doesn't come off. We're rightly ignoring that given where he's at

That’s the thing though, Sakala can’t be trusted. He’s wild.

Ramsay should have been able to be trusted, but made a cunt of it.

Had Sakala stayed on and missed the first thing anyone would have said was why is this guy hitting a pen.

Yep, no matter who missed the penalty whether that was Roofe, Sakala, Ramsey etc the good old Scottish hating ourselves to death bitter attitude would have slaughtered them.

Absolute nonsense , the guy has done nothing that any of our midfielders couldnt do , I dont know what you have been watching. I said at the time this was another ridiculous signing and thats certainly how its turned out.

As for Lowry , you are picking on a few stray passes to criticise the boy and dismissing the same slack passes from Ramsey. Give me Lowry every time over this clown. Hope Gio has the balls to leave him out all together , I was hoping he was off back to his house in Turin as hes never going to play again for Juve , the side who were desperate to get rid of him.

Ramsey's been a horrendous signing and the penalty miss sort of sums everything up ( not the miss itself ) it's been a disaster

Ramsey has been a disaster signing, contributed plenty? Aye okay

Just like you to take something out of context.

When he's played - which has been nowhere near as often as anyone would have wanted.

Combination of injury and Gio not using him right.

On instead of Arfield for extra time was the sub to make all day long.

So why didn't our manager put him on instead of Arfield? Why has he constantly turned to others instead of Ramsey? He's a busted flush. Reminds me of Pena on here, the way people still eulogise over him despite giving us fuck all.

Pena was absolutle dug shite but still managed to continue more than Ramsey. Absolutely pathetic signing.

Arfield's penalty was the best of the bunch. Roofe's and Davis's were a little too close for my liking.

But none of our 4 compared to any of their five. McGregor had little chance.

As for Ramsey, he shouldn't have been asked and also should have declined. Bringing in cold players to take penalties makes no sense to me. It failed for Southgate and England and it failed for us, albeit, Roofe scored.

Football littered with stories of bringing subs on to only take a penalty and it backfiring.

Roofe I understand as he's next in line after Tav.

Ramsey, without a notable success in his time here, was never, ever, ever a good decision to bring on for a pen. Sometimes things are destined to happen and him missing seemed one of those in real time. I got very flat when I saw him come on and had a horrible, sickening sense of foreboding. Didn't watch his pen. Put my head in my hands and just waited for the reaction. Didn't even lift my head until well after their winning one.

It felt like the wrong decision at the time and turned out to be the wrong decision. And it cost us £30m.

As did Goldson not clearing the ball and Kent not finishing, but the Ramsey one sticks out for me, as that was a deliberate managerial intervention that should never have been made.

Because he isnt fully fit, cant run and would have been worse in 40 degree heat.

Lowry would have been ahead in the queue

Ramsey got on to take a pen because of his previous reputation. He is bang average now.

Ramsey used to be a great player.  Made of glass now. Shout really loud and he would shatter.

It should have been Barisic, he's a set piece specialist. The free kick Tav took near the end was also one Barisic would have taken.

Shame not for the first time the white flag came up instead of him getting to the end of a match.

If anyone else missed a penalty the same people would be screaming at Gio for not bringing on Ramsay.

Anyone else took a pathetic penalty as he did would be getting the same abuse from me. In the final of a european tournament and you decide to take it like that? Fuck right off.

Because its Ramsey it just adds to the huge failure it has been.

I'm not a fan of Borna. I do agree he is a shitebag also mate but I think he genuinely couldn't continue.

He didn’t start because he’s not fit and can’t seem to get fit, doubt he's ever been anywhere near 100% fit the time he’s been here and thats the problem. Unless he plays today and puts on a Laudrup performance which ain’t going to happen he’ll be remembered for 2 things, a decent goal against them at Ibrox which eventually meant fuck all and that penalty miss which will be remembered forever, a joke signing that turned out to be not in the slightest bit funny, Ive developed quite a dislike for him.

The club sanctioned a signing that we should never have made. Why would you have a dislike of him?

Tbf I only got back last night, not watched the full game back.

Maybe theres a bit of boy who cried wolf about it, fuck knows. But for a guy with a build like he has, there's a fragility about him - likely mentally as much as physically.

It should never take a pro this long to get up to full speed, especially not a top calibre one like him. There's something not right about it, and without knowing more I'm laying it in him for not getting himself fully fit and match sharp. The penalty miss compounds it, especially given the casual way he took it and the obvious end result.

Fuck him.
