I'm actually happy with the idea of a new one year deal for McGregor to be our number 2.

He should not be first choice, time to pass that on. Hopefully McLaughlin can rise to the challenge, and he has probably earned the right to be fair.

I hope you are right with that info, I love Allan McG, but I feel he should no longer be number 1.

Not sure why Mcgregor would want to sign on to be the number 2 keeper.

I think he knows he needs to transition towards coaching.

But, to stress I haven't heard he's been made Number 2, I've just heard it's on reduced terms and with coaching being involved.

The career that he’s had i just can’t see him signing to sit on the bench and play maybe the cup games.

If that’s the case he’d be best retiring.

Hopefully we sign someone to compete with McLaughlin to be number one next season.  McCrorie goes out on loan and McGregor becomes third choice back up and coach.

My guess is he just does not want to leave, he said last season he just loves everyday going into training and being with all the players, I think he is putting off retiring for as long as he can.  

As much as I like Allan I do not want him as Num1 next season and hope Gio thinks the same.

The only reason I can see for another year for Alan is if McLaughlin ends up injured then he is the cover. Which is hardly ideal.

I think he’ll be on reduced wages, to take on more of a mentoring/coaching role as Defoe did. Loves the game too much to just up and walk away.

What happens if McLaughlin has a couple of howlers early on everyone we’ll be calling for McGregor to play which isn’t ideal given his performances last season.

McGregor would be the last goalkepper I'd want around the club to coach. Great shot stopper but poor at everything else.

He also said in an interview once that he would be a useless coach because he doesn't know how to explain the saves he makes. The guy is an instinctive shot stopper but technically, not very good. There is obviously the inability to come for any ball crossed into his box but also his distribution is poor. 

Unbelievable keeper for us over the years, possibly the best, but his time is up and he needs to go. We need someone far more reliable in goals, the feeling of assuredness at corners when McLaughlin is in goals compared to him is night and day and it looks like the defenders feel it too

Its beyond worrying now and makes the extensions of Davis and Arfield now seem necessity. 

If we don't sell at least another 2 big players for big money it's going to be grim.

Both us and the tims need to sell players for decent fees before we can buy replacements.  Only CL group stage money makes a difference to that.

Agree with this but one proviso is Morelos is needed for European games in particular.

Patterson sale apparently covered our costs til the end of last season.

Robertson said our income from the EL run equated to CL group qualification, so there should be CL qualification type funds available for next season.
