maybe would next year, maybe get back to form and wouldnt want them to - just ifs and buts, not advocating keeping them, just looking at all sides

They’re not signing a new contract and losing out on a big bonus to sign a deal with us to sell them.

Being able to keep the ball from our own throw ins would be a start.

It sounds like such a petty grievance to have but it’s mental how bad we are at throw ins.

Partly cos we usually take so long to take them that by the time we do we’ve let the opposition get into position to defend them.

Genuinely feels like we lose the ball at least 50% of the time within 5/10 seconds of taking one

He’s obviously got many issues to address & deal with but what should be his absolute priority ?

The ‘fitness’ of the squad for me, huge concerns re some players condition , injuries & mentality.

Secret Santa.

It’s mental that these two positions have been a problem since we got back to the top flight and have still never been properly addressed.

We've never needed a quality midfield playmaker since gerrard came though as that wasnt a position in his setup, he played with 3 sitting mids who's job was to just shunt it forward to the number 10's and then cover the fullback whos went maurauding up the park

Same with right winger, gerrard didnt use them, god knows why we signed so many as they all became useless bar kent who now is almost useless

If beale sets up the way he did with gerrard we dont need a playmaker, we need 3 athletic centre mids who can cover a lot of ground between fullback and centre mid, and we need number tens who can link the overlapping fullbacks up and then make the arfield type runs into the box to support the strikers

Lawrence maybe could do that but i think him and tillman are better at coming deep (no space to do so in beales old system) turning and driving towards the opponents

In an ideal world we play a 352 where the centre halves just defend, the wingbacks play right up the park, the 3 in the midfield either support or cover the wingback going to the byline or they support and link up with the two strikers

He did use wingers though, he only switched after the second old firm at the piggery in his first season.

Fuck me, I've read it all now. We don't need a creative midfielder?

Rewind yourself to every match thread under Gerrard when the teams were announced only to see two DM's playing at home against dross.

Lawrence & Tillman are #10s and we have had a slew of #6's to choose from for years.

It is a # 8 we have been crying out for over a decade!

I hate long throws. Rarely comes to anything

Long throws appear to be out of fashion, but I think it would be good to at least have the option. At one time, a long throw in the final third was as good as a corner- although corners have not been much use to us either in recent times
