What's Wrong?

Another below par performance to say the least, what in your opinion is/are the issue/s?

• New players needing to gel?
• New players not being good enough?
• The tactics not being right?
• Tav & Borna being too exposed?

If I'm honest I think there's a mix of all of the above being the issue.

Tav and barasic are knackered. Too much for too long from them both. 

Back line generally is now too slow. 

Forwards do no seem very good.

1st half was poor but thought 2nd was decent and unlucky not to win it with Dessers off the post.

Think a mixture of the ones players to gel and tactics not quite right in the formation.

Beale isn’t as bad as some make out but he isn’t who I thought he was, which was a terrific manager, he’s just alright.

The mainstays don't have the legs or hunger.  Some of the new boys are duds. Some organisation and gelling still needed.

It's been pish, but at least there is a plan B and C when it's not working.

Also yet to find the right system a lot of players put in positions that don't suit them - Raskin on sat, Cantwell last couple of games.

I'm not even worrying about PSV now. Very clearly a step too far for us. We pocket the five million, another European full house, and hope we get a good EL draw.

Might be in the minority here, but think it’s a work in progress. Think more time to gel and get a bit more cut throat in front of goal and we’ll be alright this season. Still think it’s a bit early to fully judge us. Just a shame the PSV game will come too soon.

Back line hasn't been improved and front line may well be worse. So far.

Dessers has been rotten and the other 3 (Danilo, Lammers, Sima) not miles better either.

Midfield is strong on paper with Raskin, Cantwell, Cifuentes and Dowell.

The club badly needed to move forward into a new era with our appointment following Gio's departure, and we chose to move back. That's our biggest problem.

Bit of everything but it’s mostly tactics. A more “handbrake off” manager gets a whole lot more out of the attacking players we have.

Tactics are complete torture, make you yearn for the days of Walter Smith playing about 7 at the back

That’s the nail on the head, needed someone with no ties and no favourites in the team to clear it out and start again

Overcommited to a narrow formation and overinvested up front relative to the quality we seem to have actually acquired, and how bad the defence is.

For me the bigger issue is all the scar tissue we still have. Beale leading us,  Tav and Goldson still the core after a rebuild. We’ve missed the chance for cultural change, the price will be a near carbon copy of last season.

We are still not playing as a team I think Beale likes players to interchange position and play quite fluid but this in itself is making it hard for us to gel.

Negativity is embarrassing. These qualifiers have never ever been easy. We’ve got the job done after a poor first half. Second half was much improved and that will serve them well going forward responding to adversity. Give the new players time to settle man. It’s been 4 games.

Don't think the players we have bought up front fit the style of play Beale wants, which is baffling.

We can only truly say we have improved in goal on from last season. Up front we look worse.

All the bullet points are right. I think there is a complacency knowing that we need to go up a gear next round again which hopefully we do find, time not being a thing we have much of.

Mental that apart from Butland, I'd rather have started tonight with the same team that finished the last few games of the previous Season.

Unsure what Beale has been thinking with his transfers in.
